I rather wonder what you have to block out to come up with the idea that it might be a good idea to make an investment in a SINGLE company and plan with a perpetual investment....

No offense, but EVERYTHING can change...so I also have to regularly or constantly check whether changes have occurred that suggest changes to my investment.

By eternal, the person probably means "only" for an entire human life.
I would understand it to mean that a share is given the personal seal of quality "eternal durability" due to clever management, market position and industry.

Of course, you can only ever evaluate from today's perspective.

Yes, yes, it's clear that we're talking about several decades and not literally forever.
But even in decades, the changes are greater than we might like to admit and absolute world market leaders sometimes disappear completely.

So why make these bets?

For me it's

- $RHM - for all my love of pacifism and world peace, there will (unfortunately) always be wars. Rheinmetall is becoming increasingly important (internationally) in this regard
- $1211 - the Chinese car manufacturer is simply ahead in the long term when it comes to e-mobility
- $MSFT - everything has already been said about this

Wanting to hold a time-dependent directional bet forever is and remains nonsense. The aim of an investment is not to never get the money out of the asset again.
