In keeping with the new Trade Republic debit card, I'll give you some more information about it here and give you some more tips on how you can save tons of money. It's best to save this post.

  • Trade Republic card information
  • Shopback (up to 60% cashback)
  • Plutus card
  • Crypto.com card

1st Trade Republic card info

https://ref.trade.re/kfw0kt11

As of today, you can join the waiting list for the Trade Republic debit card. Your place on the waiting list will be visible in the app shortly. By the way, you can get the metal card for free today in Berlin at the Trade Republic Demo. There will also be merch and exciting talks.

The card is available in 3 versions:

  • Virtual card 0€
  • Classic card 5€
  • Mirror card (metal card) 50€

These costs are one-off. All three have the same functions. There are no monthly costs.

Fees1€ per withdrawal at ATMs with less than 100€

Type of card: It is a Visa debit card

Advantages:

  • Saveback
  • Round up

What is Saveback?

Every time you spend money with the card, you get saveback of 1%, which is invested in a savings plan of your choice. I think that's a pretty cool thing. However, you can only receive 15€ saveback per month and you must have activated a savings plan of 50€ per month. This can be done weekly, twice a month or even once a month.

Example: You buy €100 at Edeka with the card, then you get €1, which is invested in your selected savings plan.

What is Round up?

You can round up odd amounts in your expenses. You then automatically invest the rounded up amount. It is always rounded up to the nearest euro. For example, if you spend €2, it will be rounded up to €3, so €1 will be invested.

You have the option of activating a multiplier (2x, 3x, 5x or times 10x)

2. shopback

https://app.shopback.com/hsZSroU1dGb

Shopback is an app with which you can get cashback from a number of websites. It's super quick and easy. All you have to do is click on the store in the app where you want to order, order the goods and you will receive cashback. You can then have the cashback paid out to PayPal, for example.

Examples
Cashback:

  • Currently 60% cashback at Temu for new customers and 35% cashback for existing customers
  • 2% cashback on Amazon gift cards
  • 7% cashback on Otto gift cards
  • 12% cashback at About You
  • 3% cashback Hello
  • 4% cashback
  • 10% cashback Nike

The list of cashback offers is seemingly endless.

3rd Plutus card https://dex.plutus.it/auth/referee/signup?refId=oMKllD

Like the Trade Republic card, the Plutus card is also a Visa debit card. Here you get on at least 3% cashback on all spending in the form of the company's own cryptocurrency. This can normally be exchanged for €. However, this is currently being maintained or improved. The card with 3% cashback is free. You also receive €10 cashback per month on a subscription of your choice. (e.g. Netflix, Disney+, Edeka and much more)

So you get Netflix almost for free.

The card is available virtually and digitally. You can even increase the cashback by staking the currency or through subscriptions and also get €10 cashback per month for other offers.

Future
updates
from
Plutus:

In my opinion, this is the biggest advantage. In the future, you'll even get cashback on direct debits, which means you'll even get cashback on your rent, tuition fees and more!

3. crypto.com card

I'll briefly summarize the Crypto.com card here.

There was a recent update at Crypto.com. It is now possible to get significantly more cashback even with the cheaper cards through tasks. Cashback is possible from 1% to 8% on all expenses. Even with the second-worst card, up to 4% cashback is possible. For this you have to use the cryptocurrency $CRO (+1,01 %) worth €350 for 180 days. CRO is currently at around 10% of its all-time high. So if CRO reaches its all-time high again, you would already have €3500 worth of CRO and could use it to directly unlock a better card. With this card you will then receive 2 to 5% cashback on all expenses and access to airport lounges (Priority Pass). What many people don't know is that even if you no longer have the CROs, you still have access to the airport lounges!

I like the card, it bothers me that only the card debits the TR account, if it debited my other current account I would get it. I would like to use my parked money or the cash I have at TR only for investments. If my purchases were also included, I would lose track.

@OKevin But TR is also a bank, so theoretically you can process your fixed costs via your current account and then load the remaining amount directly to TR. Then you would have your parked money and the rest of your spending money there, which would generate more interest. Of course, you have to be careful not to use part of your saved money. Just a question of discipline
2
@OKevin TR could also automatically debit all card payments from the reference account once a month 🤷🏽‍♂️ and the bear would be peeled 🤪
@Zik67 that would be a dream come true for my overview ^^. But I think they would like the money to be in their giro/bank.
1Année
@OKevin I also thought it would be a great solution if it were possible to create sub-accounts here so that you could assign any leisure time amounts etc. to them and only make payments from them. @Zik67 You mean like with a conventional credit card?
1
@TB98 yes exactly 👍🏼
1
@TB98 or, if you prefer, debit it directly from your TR balance and then collect it once a month from the reference account 😉

@TB98 In my opinion, the best account with sub-accounts is this one https://s.c24.de/VffURNxrMt/

The thing I like best about C24 is the automatic categorization of expenses. In terms of overview, it's the best account I've seen so far. Let's see if Trade Republic can do the same
2
@OKevin That's why I don't get them

Almost forgotten: The Student Beans app is still very good for students. You also get tons of cashback

Let me ask you who is thinking of getting the card? If so, which one do you think the metal card is quite chic purely in terms of function, it only has optical added value

@NE0 I will get the card as you get 4% interest there anyway and the 1% saveback is a nice thing. I still have to decide which of the Trade Republic cards I'm going to get
image de profil
@NE0 is not worth it from my point of view
@giraffidae???? why
image de profil
@AndreasRose Don't shout like that. I already have a free debit card with which I can make withdrawals and a maximum of €15 a month (realistically more like €5 for me) is not really added value for me.
@giraffidae Well your opinion 😂😂😂😂
image de profil
@AndreasRose wow - 3 weeks later. What's so funny? Where do you see the added value?
@giraffidae Are you stupid ??? or just badly informed ???
image de profil
@AndreasRose Neither. I wrote above why this is no added value for me. Why don't you answer my questions?
@giraffidae Please inform yourself

1% with a max of 15€ per month is nothing really. Are they making fun of us?

@Wettyx91 absolutely!

I would be interested to know whether I have the same range of functions at Deutsche Bank ATMs (e.g. depositing money) as I have an account with Deutsche Bank through Trade Republic.
image de profil

@Bullnbear Trade Republic has had its own full banking license for about a month now. I could well imagine that they will no longer use other banks, but will create their own IBANs.
image de profil
@Noel but that's not the case for now
image de profil

Since Visa is the partner, this will probably be possible at a number of ATMs and perhaps even in stores anyway
image de profil
Is there any news about possible uses abroad?
image de profil

@1202928 Withdrawing money worldwide is free of charge. You only pay €1 if the amount is less than €100. You can then see the exchange rates in the app. No additional fees are charged. The card can be used wherever Visa is available
image de profil
stupid question: I guess there is no 1% cashback on cash withdrawals in the form of a savings plan, is there? Otherwise it would be a perpetuum mobile. There should be no costs when withdrawing money (but I haven't looked into this in detail yet).
image de profil
1Année
@Dividenden-Sammler No, not on that and not on gambling as far as I know. Neither does spending on investments, i.e. buying shares etc.
image de profil
@Noel The cashback is guaranteed to be limited to card use alone (in supermarkets, etc.). Direct debits from online merchants, purchases at the depot, etc. are not made with the card.

With Plutus, please bear in mind that there have unfortunately been some changes there and you now also have to stake a lot in the form of PLUs. The cashback on sales and e.g. Spotify is no longer available for free users.

You have to be aware of this and think carefully about whether you want to put relevant amounts into a coin like PLU (I don't)
image de profil
I have the assumption that it will not be possible to register them with apple pay/google pay, because then a 2nd card is needed? I'm a bit overwhelmed
image de profil

@Lukiiii55511 Which card do you mean? The Trade Republic card? I don't yet have any information on whether it is suitable for Apple or Google Pay, but in a roundabout way it should also work with the Curve card
image de profil
Do I understand the round up correctly? For example, if I make a purchase for €2.13, this amount is automatically rounded up to €3 and the difference of 87 cents is then credited to the savings plan?

Is it possible to link with Paypal?
image de profil
1Année
@Jnn Not the Trade Republic card I don't think, but I don't know anything more about it yet. PayPal can be linked to Curve as far as I know. The Shopback app can be linked to PayPal
image de profil
I mean the one at trade republic :)
image de profil
Crypto credit cards can be useful, but they come with additional risks. And you should know what you are doing in terms of tax.

You forgot Payback and Deutschland-Card in combination with the supermarket apps.
image de profil
Is there a saveback even if you don't have a savings plan? Do you simply earn interest on your saved money with a fancy card?
image de profil
@DEGIMA No, the requirement is an active savings plan of at least €50/month
@abtrading that's annoying.
image de profil
@MrCumEx They just don't have anything to give away. They just want to win customers 😂
@abtrading I'm beginning to feel the same way.....
image de profil
What is so attractive about it now?

I keep my distance. 😊

I really like the metal card. I would definitely get one. However, I would also prefer it if it were debited from the current account of my choice. Or at least in combination with a current account with TR, which is independent of the investment account. That is extremely important to me. I hope that it will at least be possible to change this later.

With regard to Plutus, I would also like to point out that the cashback is not paid out directly but into the Coin PLU. And since the DEX is currently offline in Germany, there is currently no possibility for German users to receive a payout. 🤓
Does anyone know if the card will also be available for Austrians?
image de profil
I can still recommend Getmore. My favorite cashback site https://bit.ly/33OELaI
image de profil
I have also been interested in the Crypto.com card for some time. But I'm definitely going to get the TradeRepublic. I'd rather have my money there, be able to invest directly and get 4% interest than in my current account 😄
Thanks for the comparison!

Thanks for the detailed contribution. I'm curious to see what it will look like once it's implemented. I think the idea itself is really good + the investment is ingenious, especially for beginners. It just works casually. I'm curious to see if anyone with the card will save on tips in the future and invest them instead 😂 After all, this way you also get rid of the odd amounts.
50 in a single savings plan or in total? So for the cashback

What about withdrawing money, do I also get 1% cashback?
