Nestle - reliable dividend payer

Nestle has been paying me a continuous dividend since 2008 / 2009, which has been increased every year so far. I have already received my original investment from back then back in full through the dividend payments. I think it's good proof that buy & hold pays off and that you can put together a nice portfolio over time. After the dividend payment, I only have to get the withholding tax from Switzerland refunded. This then increases the net dividend by a good 300 euros. The value shown here in the transaction is gross in CHF. And a good start to the day to you all.

@DividendenMax above all, you can collect it nicely for 3 years and then refund it in one so that the "effort" is worthwhile. That's why I always don't understand the talk about withholding tax.

@DividendenMax I get a voucher from the bank. It should now also work with the dividend voucher. There is a portal for withholding tax refunds. You register there, enter some information and the complete application is then made available for you to download. Part of it is the certificate of residence. You have this stamped by the tax office. Once this is done, you send it to Bern with the application. They finalize your application and pay out the money. All in all, it takes about 4 weeks.

Comdirect simply charges fees for the voucher...unfortunately I have to live with that. But the refund is only worthwhile from a certain amount/costs/effort. That's why I always collect 3years

@Transporter There are different opinions on this. I myself am also a long-term investor, but if a share has been on a downward trend for five years, you have to make a decision at some point.
There are enough examples of fallen champions

As long as people drink mineral water in the morning, use it to brush their teeth in the third world, then make themselves a coffee and eat products from some global supermarket:
Nestlé makes money. Prices may have fallen, but you can't avoid the company.
Therefore: buy more if you can, otherwise hold - preferably for the long term.
It's still the biggest food company in the world. If you have to eat, you have to buy Nestlé. And if you think you can avoid it, you can't. Their fingers are in everything.
Which doesn't mean that they have to make adjustments and improvements/optimizations, and they are trying hard to do so at the moment.
I think the next five years will show whether they can once again turn what I said into a long-term stable growth phase.
But: nothing really speaks against it yet, and past experience speaks for it.

They must be crazy that you have to print out and sign the application to get the withholding tax back and then have it notarized by the tax office. They should come up with a system like the BundID. It's not worth the effort at all, I'd rather consider selling my Nestle position.

@Marty0292 It depends on the amount. For 10 euros it's not worth it, but for over 300 it is. And let's be honest, the few minutes of effort don't really matter. It's the fastest way to earn money.

@Transporter I only invested 1100 euros in Nestle and the registration process etc. took a while. I also did the procedure with Novo Nordisk via the Danish tax authorities out of interest and no certification from the tax authorities was necessary.
