$AAOI (-9,71 %)

Hello, everyone,

In the field of optoelectronics, I am $LITE (-5,53 %) Lumentum, and I plan to remain invested.

Applied Optoelectronics (NASDAQ:AAOI) saw its stock price rise by as much as 17.6 percent to $110.95 per share on Monday as investors bought back into the stock ahead of strong earnings expected in the second quarter of the year.

For this period, the company is expected to report a revenue increase of 75 to 92 percent to a range of $180 million to $192 million, compared to $103 million in the same period last year.

It is expected to post a net income of $2.8 million, up from a net loss of $2.5 million in the same comparable period, and to move from a non-GAAP loss per share of $0.03 to a non-GAAP earnings per share of $0.03, compared to a loss of $0.16 per share in the same period last year.

Applied Optoelectronics (NASDAQ:AAOI) is scheduled to release its official financial results after the market closes on Thursday, August 6. A conference call will be held to discuss the results in more detail.

Multi-million-dollar orders in the second quarter

The rally may be supported by the company’s newly closed deals in March and during the second quarter of the year.

On March 9 alone, Applied Optoelectronics (NASDAQ:AAOI) received its first large-scale order from one of its long-standing customers for its 1.6T data center transceivers to increase network bandwidth for AI workloads.

A few weeks later, it received another order from a hyperscaler customer for its 800G single-mode data center transceivers to support network capacity for AI-driven workloads.

On April 2, Applied Optoelectronics (NASDAQ:AAOI) announced that the customer had placed an additional order worth $71 million for the same data center transceiver, bringing the customer’s total order to $124 million.

The company is currently expanding its facilities in Pearland and Sugar Land, Texas, in line with plans to increase its production capacity.

The Pearland facility alone will add two adjacent buildings, adding approximately 38,000 square feet of production capacity; construction officially began last month.

In addition, the company secured a $20.8 million innovation grant from the state of Texas to support the production expansion in Sugar Land.

Applied Optoelectronics (NASDAQ:AAOI) announced that expansion plans are underway to occupy an additional 210,000 square feet. The production facility will be located next to its current headquarters in Sugar Land, where one of the largest production capacities for AI-focused data center transceivers in the U.S. will be established, creating over 500 new jobs.

Hedge Fund Buy-In
