OpenAI vs. NVIDIA: A chip battle on the horizon?

NVIDIA ($NVDA (-3,63 %) ) currently dominates the market for AI chips, but the competition never sleeps. A new, exciting chapter could be opening up, as OpenAI is planning to develop its own AI chips. 😮 This could not only make the ChatGPT maker less dependent on NVIDIA, but also shake up the rules of the game in the AI sector.


According to a report by Reuters, OpenAI is already in the process of finalizing the design for its first chip. The plan is to start production in 2026. Interesting, isn't it? 🤔 Would this be the start of a new era for AI technology?

It will be difficult to beat Nvidia. However, I think competition is possible. Now that AMD and Intel hardly play a role any more, it would be nice if a new player could establish itself. That supposedly stimulates business and ultimately leads to new innovations.
