@okaycool I don't want to make a living in my old age just selling shares, which will hopefully be recouped through price gains. I know this is quite possible, common and mathematically sensible, but it will most likely not let me sleep soundly. So the thought process here is more emotional and not rational. The alternative to selling shares is dividends. So, for my psychological stability, I need to generate min. a part of my income through dividends, which is difficult if I have only accumulating ETF. So, after the accumulation phase, I would have to sell accumulating ETFs and buy dividend stocks instead. When I sell, there is quite a bit of tax on the capital gains. For this to be worthwhile, the accumulating ETF would have to have risen 35% more in price than the distributing ETF before the switch (including the investment of the distributions after taxes). Personally, I don't think that's realistic, but I haven't done the math. I should perhaps make times 👍
