Hello dear GQ community,

I am thinking about selling my Big Tech shares $MSFT (-0,45 %) , $AAPL (+1 %) , $GOOGL (-1,81 %) and $AMZN (-1,35 %) and shifting them into the $XDWT (-1,7 %) reallocate. I now have a 27% stake in IT and am also generally convinced that IT and software drives the global economy. I'm a little unsure because these are all "forever" stocks.

What do you guys think?

I would rather keep the 4 stocks and possibly start a savings plan for the ETF if you are convinced of that.

Stocks for eternity don't really exist. 20-30 years ago, the top positions in the S&P 500 looked different. At that time, they were seen as stocks for eternity, which was not the case. See also, for example, Jeff Bezos' opinion of Amazon. https://www.businessinsider.de/wirtschaft/tod-von-amazon-ist-unausweichlich-erklaert-jeff-bezos-r20/ With the ETF, you have to keep in mind that Apple and Microsoft are already very heavily weighted, but that's not necessarily bad. I think for the decision, it's more the strategy that matters. If you think that tech will continue to outperform (I think so too) and want to invest passively without much effort, the ETF is a good choice. If you are willing to invest more effort, you can try to pick out the best and hold them individually. Of course, there is no guarantee that you will get the best ones and outperform the ETF.
