Tesla Full Self Driving rather a Full Safety Fail

Anyone who invested in Tesla $TSLA (-9,97 %) because he/she wrongly assumed that Tesla's technology stack was advanced or unique or even interesting for potential customers from the (German) automotive industry (it certainly isn't for any car manufacturer worldwide), this video is unlikely to bring them to their senses (the train has probably long since left the station), but it is certainly entertaining:

So much for the FUD. But no one here would ever report that Amar from the "whole Mars Catalog" channel sometimes drives 7 hours through California without intervention. The truth will probably lie somewhere in the middle. In the end, everyone has to ask themselves the question: would I rather be run over by a real person or be 10 times less likely to be run over by an AI? I think both are bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6762m8SX5kI&

@Dirty30 „A new study on U.S. road fatality data from 2018 to 2022 shows that Tesla is the brand with the most fatal accident rate: “They have a fatal accident rate of 5.6 per billion miles driven […] The national average fatal accident rate for all vehicles in the U.S. is 2.8 per billion miles.”

@HolladieAktienfee I think you can talk yourself into a lot of things. I don't see a problem with the vehicle in this video either, but rather a video for entertainment purposes. Apart from the heavy fog, none of these scenarios are really realistic. Of course, there is still a long way to go before it can really drive autonomously. And with regard to the study, it is certainly correct, but I think most accidents are caused by the customer's misuse, even if it is sold as FSD. But in everyday use, I don't currently see any vehicle that works as well as the Tesla.

@Doja Have we seen the same video?
How can you come to any other conclusion than that Tesla's approach of using only cameras is clearly inferior to LiDAR technology? FSD and Robotaxis are about fully automated driving. The current value of the share is based on the assumption that this will be available in the summer. But it won't be. This will not only require a little more training and the odd update, but also a departure from Musk's camera-only strategy. Unless he puts himself at the head of the regulatory authority, which is not even out of the question.

@randomdudeOf course the camera only strategy is inferior to a camera&LiDAR technology, I would also prefer to see a combination in the Teslas, but currently there is nothing better on the road than Tesla in my opinion. And I don't think it will be available in the summer either. But sometimes the best economically is not always the best technically. Tesla still has a long way to go to really call it full FSD, but it is certainly not worse than what is installed in German cars, because the assists that are installed in VW and Mercedes and Audi, for example, work even worse.

@Doja Unfortunately, this does not correspond to reality. Every other mass-produced vehicle with self-driving capabilities is equipped with lidar. Musk only decided years ago out of spite that Tesla should only use the cheapest dashcams for SD. The systems from Mercedes and VW are technically more advanced and more capable than those from Tesla, but also somewhat more expensive.

@Dirty30 "Partly" says it all 😂😂😂😂

@Haiku this is partly related to the length of the video. Feel free to scroll through the videos, the videos where there is any intervention at all are limited.
@Dirty30 So it wasn't 7 hours, I understand.
