Great dividend, but unfortunately the price has fallen sharply since I joined. Is it all down to the price of gas?

To what extent is a media group affected more than average by gas price fluctuations?

@janoleli YES what else?
@Reit-Stevie As an investor, you should at best know this in order to decide whether you want to remain invested. However, it is not clear to me that the share price and the gas price are causally linked

@janoleli is the only reason that still makes a bit of sense. Nothing else has changed.

Maybe people will realize that RTL or the program is the last snot

@xDaweed lol would also be possible :-D ;-)

@janoleli is due to the ex-date. Many people are invested and as soon as the dividend is paid out, they all get out. that's why the share fell so much in May.

@GetRichorTryin makes sense. But then it briefly rose again quite well, almost to EUR 45, and then fell sharply again.

@Reit-Stevie is clear. This is the normal course of a share. The share price falls because of the dividend, many people think wow a bargain and buy and so the price goes up again and many who then panic sell again and the share price goes down again. But the slump is not that extreme now.

@GetRichorTryin Okay, that's right. I'm thinking about when I should sell mine :-D They should have been sold by now :D

@GetRichorTryin the share falls on the ex-day because the dividend is deducted from the share price

So I'm pretty sure this will have absolutely nothing to do with the gas price :D Haven't looked into it now, but it would make more sense that people are back in the office & at leisure activities more since there are hardly any restrictions and the quotas just drop as a result, consequently the revenues drop

@RoronoaZoro could also be true.

The only growth I see is human stupidity

It's very similar at ProSieben and all other media companies at the moment 😪 Simply a weak phase for the industry.

@ProjectTenbagger That's right. I think things will pick up again in the fall :-)

The company itself tries to keep itself attractive through dividends, as there is little else to be gained, if I were you I would take a look at the company's payout ratio

@Montgomery Thank you. That's a good idea.

This is certainly not due to the oil. It is more likely due to the market as a whole, which is also going up and down. But take a look at RTL's entire chart and you'll know. TV programs and channels are on the decline anyway. Streaming is much more accepted and is also getting much bigger. If the TV stations don't develop new big innovations and better programs, nothing will happen^^
@BOHN3_ so I think the Netflix share is in a much worse position than the RTL share ;-)

That's because they'll soon be out of the window 🚀 to the deep sea
@Dovador RTL is going bankrupt, is that what you think?
I think it's more because nobody watches TV anymore, especially younger people watch less and less TV and when they do they don't watch trash TV like rtl2.
@Dachser Well, the share was still very strong in April. I hardly believe that this has changed so drastically in 2-3 months ;-)

It is currently the vacation season. Generally speaking, broadcasters have difficulties during the vacations. Therefore mostly repeats etc
@CooleSarah That's right. And now DSDS will be canceled soon ;-)

But the information is fairly new. And is unlikely to have any impact on the current share price.

However, a lot of costs for productions of this kind are currently rising. The lack of employees alone makes a big difference

@CooleSarah Yes, I really just want to get rid of RTL. 53 euros buy-in :( At least 5 euros dividend. Then I'll sell it when it finally goes back up to 45 or 46 euros. It's the worst share in my portfolio :D

If you want to sell them, just do it now
@CooleSarah I think they will rise again soon. Now they are already very low :-(
