$COIN (-1,55 %) In the last 3 years my Coinbase position from 4% to 28% due to acquisitions and profits. The position is a proud 350% in the plus. As I continue to see long-term potential in this company, but do not want to hold the position for long at this size, I now need an exit strategy concept. Here are my thoughts:

I want to keep about 20% of the position as a long-term investment. So when do I sell my 80%? Approximately at these dates:

-> 20% at 120K Bitcoin

-> 30% at 140K Bitcoin or on 01.03.2025

-> 30% at 180K Bitcoin or on 01.06.2025

I am setting these points under the assumption that not only Bitcoin, but the entire market jumped at this price or at this point in time, which drove up the figures at Coinbase, not only the turnover from transactions, but also the number of users and the subscription and services turnover.

What do you think? I am always happy to receive feedback.

Why do you want to limit profits?
Why not limit losses (SL, SMA etc.)?

@Epi Good idea, but I'm not sure where I would put it. I can't imagine where the crypto market will go this time. If I set the stop loss too low, I'll jump out late.

@robiin You buy the opportunity to make more profits with the risk of making more losses. You manage risks with diversification. In your case, diversification over time.

This means that you simply divide your position into several tranches and define a separate stoploss for each tranche.

@Epi Thank you. It's definitely worth considering!

I can still understand your selling at a certain bitcoin price, but I wouldn't commit to a date. So much can happen between now and then (both positive and negative)

@Sansebastian Thanks for the feedback. My thought was that otherwise I risk taking the downward path again if I wait in vain for a price.

@robiin then use an SL

@Sansebastian I'm thinking about the best way to do this. Does this mean that the higher the crypto prices go and thus also $COIN, the more my SL goes up? Thanks for the suggestion!

Make 80% at 119k

@W0io Is this the top of this bull market in your opinion?

Could be good. At least until there is a more significant correction.
But I could also imagine that Coinbase will sooner or later lose the exclusivity of ETF custody, which will lead to price losses.

@W0io As a result, custody fees are only minimally or not at all reflected in their price, as Coinbase does not publish any figures on this. This was never a factor that greatly helped the value of the share itself.
