Shell CEO Ben van Beurden will step down at the end of the year and be replaced by head of gas and renewables Wael Sawan.
London-based Shell disclosed that the CEO, who has been at the helm for nine years, will step down from the company on Jan. 1, 2023, but will remain available to the board as an advisor until the end of June.
"I look forward to channeling the pioneering spirit and passion of our incredible employees to meet the immense challenges and seize the opportunities of the energy transition," Sawan said.
