As a noob. What would happen if I hold 1 share I just have 0.25 shares afterwards?

Yes but no :D You get 4 new shares for 1 share. So before 1 share = 100€ afterwards 4 shares = 100€ and the share itself costs after the split only 25€.

wouldn't that be a normal split wouldn't a reverse split turn 4 shares into 1? Or have I taken a completely wrong turn?

not only in theory. But it goes even higher. Aston Martin had 20:1 at that time with me
