Turin, Dec. 21, 2024 - The maxi deal can be said to be concluded. Iveco, the Turin-based leading manufacturer of commercial, industrial vehicles and buses, wins the tender in Germany and signs the five-year agreement with central purchasing company BusGruppe for 580 buses, 250 of which will be fully electric. This is the largest tender for electric buses ever won by the group in the German market.

The German-Italian agreement

Iveco bus, a brand of the Iveco group specializing in city, intercity and tourist buses, has signed a five-year agreement with BusGruppe for the supply of up to 580 buses, 250 of which will be electric, with a total value of up to 235 million euros. The one won with the German consortium (which includes Verkehrsbetriebe Bachstein, CeBus, KVG Stade, Omnibusbetrieb von Ahrenschildt, Pülm Reisen, and Reisebüro Schmidt) the largest tender in the market in Germany for electric buses, scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2030.

The Turin-based company will deliver 200 Crossway Low Entry Elec and 50 E-Way electric buses, articulated and designed not surprisingly to support the customer's energy transition. However, this agreement is not limited to the electric segment alone. In fact, the agreement also includes 330 additional vehicles, including Urbanway Hybrid articulated city buses and Crossway Low Entry intercity buses, equipped with Fpt Industrial's 9-liter Cursor engines, which are compatible with renewable fuels. All vehicles that Iveco will supply will be customized to the specific needs of Verkehrsbetriebe Bachstein, the German local public transport company. Equipment will include cantilever seats, air conditioning, video surveillance systems, Wi-fi, Usb ports, and fuel-saving technologies.$IVG (-0,09 %)
