According to an article in the MDR the number of complaints about delayed or undelivered letters at Deutsche Post continues to grow significantly. $DHL (-0,08 %) continues to grow significantly. By October 2024 alone, the Federal Network Agency had already received over 32,000 complaints received. This represents a new high and significantly exceeds the previous year's figures. Rural areas are particularly affected, where deliveries are often delayed or not made at all. Although these are complaints from the entire German (postal) sector, around 90% of them relate to Deutsche Post (DHL).

Deutsche Post justifies the problems with a lack of skilled workers and a decline in letter volumes. According to critics, however, this reflects a lack of adaptation of internal structures to the current challenges. The Federal Network Agency is demanding that Deutsche Post take measures to improve the situation and is investigating whether legal requirements have been breached.

Personal opinion:

Despite all this, DHL is regularly voted the number 1 best service provider in the industry. More parcels and letters also means more complaints, nothing special, but from DHL's point of view it should be taken seriously and appropriate measures introduced.

The news is based on what I personally consider to be reputable sources. However, I do not guarantee their accuracy.

If it is absolutely no longer worthwhile, letters in rural areas would only have to be delivered every 3 days or once a week.

Or, if this is not already the case, combine parcel delivery with letter delivery.

Perhaps you could also cooperate with Uber here.

The biggest problem is simply the Federal Network Agency itself, if DHL were not so dependent on them and, for example, were allowed to increase letter postage reasonably, more suitable staff could also be paid, etc.

@PowerWordChill Let me put it this way, for patient data - okay. But why does the tax office still need fax machines?

@Dividendenopi Or data protection into the previous millennium...
@Metis what does everyone here have against fax xD so I think it's great - it counts legally like a registered letter but doesn't cost as much and is immediate, for such things (government offices etc) it's really great

@__FunFun__ For modern people who do everything online, that's really old-fashioned. And for the two times a year when I have to deal with the authorities, I don't really want to need an extra device for communication. :D
