Musk is a danger for Europe.

@HennRes he is a danger to every democracy, whether in or outside Europe.

@Windbeutel A platform where everyone can freely express their opinion is also a danger to freedom of expression, isn't it?

@Ph1l1pp No, Musk often spreads fake news, for example. According to the Center for Countering Digital Hate, he published at least 50 such posts on the 2024 US election alone, which achieved a total of over 1.2 billion views. He probably doesn't take the topic of fake accounts seriously either: a study by Cyabra found that 15% of accounts that support Trump and 7% that support Biden are fake.

Freedom of speech is one thing, but it cannot be invoked when fake news is deliberately spread.

And yes, this is indeed a threat to democracy, especially when you interfere in European elections :)

@HennRes thanks, you saved me some work writing a comment that would have made absolutely the same points! 👍🏼👍🏼

@Ph1l1pp Yes, because changing algorithms, the uncensored dissemination of abstruse theories, fake news and conspiracy tourism, including manipulation, say everything in themselves 🤫

Stupid example, but if you tell someone often enough that they are stupid, they will eventually get to the point where they think about it and consider it more than very likely, and that is precisely the danger of this platform, for example.

Apart from that, there is usually only a very fine line between genius and madness, where, as here, the tendency towards madness tends to predominate...we've seen it all before 😉

@HennRes

Studies by the Stanford Internet Observatory and the MIT Sloan School show that fake accounts have hardly any influence on elections, as they usually achieve extremely low reach (I think you are also aware of this).

According to a study by Axios, Musk's "Community Notes" have significantly curbed the spread of fake news.

In addition, methodological weaknesses in the study by the "Center for Countering Digital Hate" cast doubt on its validity.
The real danger to Europe and the world lies with those electing corrupt globalists who are willing to imprison people simply for daring to share their thoughts. If you can't criticize a so-called democracy, then it's not a democracy in the first place. Europe is the dying sick man.

@market_genius_395 You´re right but Europeans want to elect liberal globalists and fight a war that is not winable, especially if Europe cant maintain themselves without import of oil and gas. Instead of making policys for familys they rather import a couple millions. Some one said `dumbhead` to Habeck and got raided by police. This guy sign 800 prosecutions. Strack Zimmermann 2000 prosecutions because people call her warlord an such. Shes mainly invested in Rheinmetall and openly talks about it like its the best thing to do. Freedom of speech is dead, safety is dead and the prosperity is falling right now. The middle class in Germany also reduced by 11% in one year.
