E.ON ($EOAN (-0,45 %)) - E.ON gets a downgrade from JP Morgan.
JPMorgan analyst Vincent Ayral, in a report available Wednesday, initially doubts that the securities, which outperformed the utilities index several times last year, will continue to outperform. E.ON will have a hard time passing on increased costs in Central and Eastern Europe, he said. E.ON shares lost slightly in early XETRA trading by 0.25 percent to 11.97 euros.
Munich RE ($MUV2 (+0,21 %)) - Munich Re posted a profit of 2.93 billion euros in 2021, following a pandemic-related slump in profits to 1.2 billion euros in the previous year. The group had targeted 2.8 billion; analysts had expected 2.9 billion. In the fourth quarter alone, profits climbed to 871 million euros from 212 million in the prior-year period. In the previous quarter, the floods in Germany and a hurricane in the USA had caused a weak result. For the current year, Munich Re expects a profit of 3.3 billion euros. As the Group had already announced the previous day, the dividend is to rise to 11 euros from 9.80 euros in the previous year. Munich Re also announced a share buyback of up to 1 billion euros.

Intel ($INTC (+4,27 %)) wants to make cryptomining more environmentally friendly and has announced a product that will make cryptocurrency mining much more energy efficient. The company has developed a chip that will be used specifically in mining cryptocurrencies. In a press release, the company itself spoke of a "blockchain accelerator" that is said to offer "over 1000 times better performance per watt than mainstream GPUs for SHA-256-based mining."
The product, which Intel hopes will make mining cryptocurrencies more efficient, is expected to hit the market later this year. According to the press release, the company has already brought its first customers on board for the chip: for example, the first shipments are to go to Argo Blockchain, one of the leading cryptocurrency miners. In addition, the financial services and mobile payment company Block, formerly known as Square, and the bitcoin miner GRIID Infrastructure are said to be firm customers.
