Buy when there's blood in the streets, even if it's your own

My inner Paperhand voice has been screaming at me all week to sell everything and just get back in when things calm down.

But if it was that easy to know when things would calm down again, I would obviously have done it already.

Instead, I secure my entry at $GOOG (-0,03 %) with a first tranche.

@Erkan1980 is similar for me. But I'll look under the sofa cushion later to prepare a second installment with the small change

I also just bought 10× $GOOG at 158.70 for the second time. My thoughts are always to sell all individual shares at such a moment and put them completely into $VWRL... But then I buy another individual share that has been on my watchlist for a long time😬...

Same here, however, you have to resist if you have thought of a sensible strategy.
Year to date, even Alphabet is up 27% and after the slightest correction you read posts like this... if you think this is "blood in the streets" I have bad news for you

@Hofi What bad news? That the stock market will crash at some point? 🫠
@Woods no. If you apply the truism "buy when the blood is in the streets" to a long overdue single-digit % correction in the market, you're in for a rude awakening once the market really does experience a substantial dip.
You won't have any cash left to take advantage of the real dip

@Hofi "time in the market beats timing in the market"

@Hofi Well, a sell-off over several weeks is blood in the streets. That it can get much worse is obvious. As I said before, if I knew what the future held, I wouldn't buy until much later. But the fact is, nobody knows exactly when the bottom will be found and anyone who stands on the sidelines for too long will not make a good shareholder. Instead, you should try your luck in the Kreisliga
