Trade Republic really that bad?

It all depends on what you want to do there and with what volume. I primarily trade savings plans, cashback and roundups there. Occasionally a derivative.
I don't need support for that.
There is simply no choice of trading venues, no large order options other than limit or stop. And when there's real action on the stock market, there's sometimes been a system failure.

@Multibagger That's roughly what I have in mind.
As with SC, savings plans, sometimes small one-off contributions for special payments and maybe a small payout if I want to buy 3 new televisions like I did recently.

Other than that, I don't really have any special plans.

But I find real-time deposits/withdrawals and fractional purchases, for example, very good for me

My tax report for 2024 is still incorrect and I don't think anyone there will ever correct it...
Entry prices are also sometimes wrong and the most annoying thing is that you often can't trade stocks when it really matters (e.g. in a crash)

I've had problems since the beginning (I was on the waiting list at the time). Especially the issue of initial rates and downtimes during stressful times.
But perhaps for this reason, I don't have a lot of money there. But based on my experiences, I would never have my current account there. That requires trust.

I only had the problem once, shortly after opening the account, that 2 deposits did not arrive, but this was just during the current account conversion phase (June 24), after 2 weeks the problem was solved and since then everything has been running pretty much smoothly. Sometimes, when it's stressful on the stock markets, prices are late or it takes a while for the account balance to be loaded, but during the big setback in March, ING and Consorsbank were also very slow.

@A1bund7 Of course, that may well be the case. There has been a lot of negative talk about customer service and the like recently, which makes you think "Oops, what kind of provider is this?"

Hello everyone, I have had custody accounts with the house bank, Scalable and TradeRepublic since 2023. Personally, I find the price/performance ratio, clarity and ease of use at TradeRepublic the best of this selection. At Scalable, everything takes an unnecessarily long time, e.g. depositing money. The double account management is also extremely annoying. (in my personal experience) That's why I currently only have TradeRepublic as my main account and the house bank as a secondary account. There were probably access difficulties during the recent turbulence on the stock market. I cannot confirm this. I was always able to trade. The number of people who have complained about this is large, so I think this will happen less in the future. Don't forget, you can complain about anything if you want to. For €1 per trade plus fair spreads, this is a good value broker. As it is still quite young (banking license), it will still have a few technical hurdles to overcome.

Trade Republic is my 1st and currently only broker. I made the right decision. I opened the account at the end of 2023 and feel very comfortable with it.

However, if my assets continue to grow, sooner or later I will open a second account for diversification, but I think this will be difficult because Trade Republic's price/performance ratio is really top.

I was actually always satisfied until I initiated a partial custody account transfer via ING 3 months ago.... ( TR -> ING). There is simply nothing coming, there is no response to reminders and letters (max. 3 weeks according to BaFin).

Wanted to transfer TR -> Scalable. Disaster. Was not carried out at all or was carried out incorrectly. Customer service UNDERIRDICT! It's good as long as you don't have any problems.

I like it because of the low trading fees. But as soon as ING drastically reduces its prices, I will increase my portfolio there again. 5+ EUR trading fees are really only worthwhile for transaction volumes of 1000 euros or more, which is simply unattractive for short-term increases, rebalancing, partial sales or "small bets with play money". The fact that Ing has now launched such a strange new campaign where you collect points in your securities account and then move up a level etc. is, to put it in Bavarian, "a recht a Schmarrn", but at least it shows that they have recognized the problem with neobroker competition.

I would not recommend TR for people who only have 10 positions of EUR 5000 each with buy-and-hold in their portfolio. As far as I know, ING takes care of withholding tax refunds from EU countries, for example, and I will soon try this out myself with a French share that I hold. With my personal investment volume, the resulting profit would not be justified in relation to the additional costs, as my EU foreign withholding tax shares generate perhaps 10 euros in dividend withholding tax per year.

Furthermore, as far as I know, TR does not enter you in the shareholders' register, although you still have to be allowed to attend the AGM. But if you own one two-hundred-millionth of a company, then maybe that's not so important.
