Electric trucks and electric buses have so far eked out a shadowy existence at the Chinese technology group BYD Company. However, the company is now stepping up its business in Mexico.
At the ANPACT Transportation Expo 2023 in Mexico, BYD Company is presenting a total of six New Energy Vehicles (NEV) - commercial vehicles to relieve local urban traffic.
BYD Mexico Branch, a subsidiary of BYD Co. Ltd (ISIN: CNE100000296, 01211.HK), delivered the first batch of all-electric tractor units in Mexico last year. In November 2023, chassis for e-buses were delivered to Mexico.
By the end of 2022, BYD had delivered a total of 120 all-electric tractor units to a customer in Mexico, which is also BYD's first all-electric tractor unit fleet in Latin America.
When it comes to electric trucks, Latin America is still more or less a blank spot on the map for BYD. So far, the company has offered electric buses and the first electric cars and trucks in the region.
BYD's commercial vehicle business is comparatively small and still in its infancy.
