Additional digital inclusion project in the Cusco region to connect public institutions to the internet and expand access to important services.
PETAH TIKVA, Israel, Aug. 26, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd (NASDAQ: GILT, TASE: GILT), a global leader in satellite network technology, solutions and services, today announced that its Peruvian subsidiary, Gilat Perú, has signed an additional US$25 million contract with Pronatel (Programa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones), Peru's national telecommunications program. The contract is for the modernization of the regional broadband network in the Cusco region. The migration is planned for the next 12 months and the services are to be provided over a period of five years.
The modernized network will provide nearly 208 public facilities, including schools, health centers and police stations, as well as 69 free public Wi-Fi hotspots with high-speed Internet at 200 Mbps. This digital inclusion initiative will improve access to education, healthcare and public safety services while laying the foundation for future bandwidth expansion in rural areas that need it most.
This new project builds on the ongoing partnership between Gilat and the Peruvian state and underscores the company's commitment to bringing advanced connectivity to even the most remote and hard-to-reach regions.
"Thanks to our decades of experience implementing large-scale connectivity initiatives across Peru, we are able to complete this migration quickly and effectively," said Arieh Rohrstock, Corporate Senior Vice President and President of Gilat Peru. "In partnership with Pronatel, we are expanding digital inclusion by providing the high-speed infrastructure needed to strengthen critical public services in Peru's most remote communities."
