Brief thoughts and questions on $NKE (-0,22 %)

Why is the share being beaten up like this?

  • Triple A rating
  • Minimal increase in sales compared to the previous year, but also no decline compared to the previous year
  • Regular and regularly increasing dividend payout
  • Market leader in its segment
  • Liabilities less than 1.7 times equity
  • increased eps compared to PY
  • Lower P/E ratio, approx. at the level of 2017

What am I missing? Would like to expand the position further.

Best regards

I would say that the share now has a fair or very slight (under)valuation. In this respect, I don't think the discounts we have seen are so bad. For me, it would actually be worth buying slowly now, but only in tranches, because the market is not always rational

The market doesn't trust the soft landing US and the economy in China, could actually go both ways, who knows? I'm thinking long term, Nike will very likely still exist and be strong as a brand in 20 years. Sports events are becoming more and more popular, which is an excellent platform for Nike.

Basically, you're right about your points.

However, expectations are being traded on the stock market. All the figures currently show that Nike is losing market share in important markets and the current fear is that this trend will continue. In addition, Nike will have to spend a lot of money on marketing to win back the lost market share.

In addition, inventory has been building up on the balance sheet for years, which indicates that fewer items are being purchased. In the future, there may be greater discounting pressure to reduce the inventory.

However, I now also see Nike at an exciting level and the stock is on my watchlist if it goes even lower. @Michael-official would say: "Limit order is placed at 50$" 😅

The market is irrational and manically depressed. You either seize the buying opportunity or ignore it. Unfortunately, that's the way it is.
