The new Atlas robot does push-ups...

Boston Dynamics demonstrates in a video how agile and strong the new Atlas robot already is. The plan: to become a factory worker.

In the video (https://techcrunch.com/2024/08/22/boston-dynamics-new-electric-atlas-can-do-push-ups/) that Boston Dynamics shared with tech magazine Techcrunch, the manufacturer primarily demonstrates the powerful actuators in the robot's limbs. The new Atlas needs such motors to be able to carry out heavy work in factories or other facilities in a possible future scenario. The two-legged humanoid design is intended to give it the ability to better complement or replace human labor.

Thanks to its electric actuators, the new Atlas can be built more compactly overall and is stronger than its predecessor, which was powered by pneumatic actuators. With the new components, the robot can also move much better and rotate its limbs by 180 degrees around its own axis. This means that the system does not have to turn around by moving its legs - as a human would - but can instead turn its torso and head on the spot.

Factory worker at Hyundai

Boston Dynamics was purchased by the
Korean conglomerate Hyundai. The company wants to use robots like the new Atlas in its own factories. This could save on personnel costs in particular. After all, a robot can work 24 hours a day, around the clock. The only payment: it has to be regularly recharged with energy and maintained.

Welcome to the future 👍

I see absolutely no reason that would counteract this development in the next decade.
A huge wave of returns is coming our way. 🤑
