Fraport
$FRA (+5,53 %) expands its business in Greece 🇬🇷 and takes over Kalamata Airport from the end of 2025 Kalamata on the Peloponnese peninsula.
The Frankfurt airport operator secured the concession for the airport in a tender with a bid of 45.2 million euros.
The concession is valid for 40 years and Fraport is part of a consortium that also includes two Greek companies and the state holding company HCAP.
This holding company also participates in the concession fees.
As part of the project, the partners have undertaken to invest 28.3 million euros in the modernization of the terminal structure within the first three years of operation.
The airport Kalamatawhich handles around 330.000 passengers annually, is located in an important tourist region which, in addition to the famous beaches and mountains, also offers historical sights such as Sparta, Olympia and Mycenae.
With this expansion, Fraport is continuing its strategy of growth in Greece.
Since 2017 the company has already been operating 14 regional airportswhich it has also modernized.
