A big thank you to @Staatsmann for the suggestion that I should take a closer look at how the German pop titan Dieter Bohlen invests.

Everyone really knows Dieter Bohlen! Over 40 years ago, he became famous virtually overnight together with Thomas Anders as the pop duo "Modern Talking" through the hit "You're My Heart, You're My Soul". Dieter Bohlen is also known to many through "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" and "Das Supertalent". In the meantime Dieter Bohlen is already 69 years old.

Dieter Bohlen's fortune is estimated at 135 million euros. Among them are a villa in Hamburg, a finca on Malle (in Cala Ratjada) for the summer, a 150 hp motorboat and 2 cars: A Wiesmann GT MF4 worth about 150,000€ and a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG with gullwing doors and 571 hp, which costs about 180,000€.

Fun Fact: During an interview at the Founder Summit 2022 in Wiesbaden, Germany, Dieter Bohlen revealed that he bought a Ferrari with his first earnings from his hit song "You're My Heart, You're My Soul". To show everyone that he has made it.

2nd Fun Fact: In 2009, Dieter Bohlen announced that he would sell his cars and only travel by train, bicycle or on foot. Is that true? Somehow I do not believe it haha 😂 You?

On the Internet circulates yet another estimate of Dieter Bohlen's fortune. In 2019, Manager Magazin estimated his fortune at a whopping 250 million euros. Dieter Bohlen commented on this as follows: "It would be nice! It would be even nicer if this management magazine would give me the rest of it. Then I'd be really grateful and then they'd be allowed to write that. But otherwise not."

Bohlen's sources of income are varied. While he sold more than 180 million records as part of the pop duo "Modern Talking," he also produces records for other pop stars such as Andrea Berg, Yvonne Catterfeld and Beatrice Egli. And did you know that Bohlen has also written 3 books, among others? For example, "Der Bohlenweg: Planieren statt Sanieren", which was published in 2008. As a juror in the TV shows "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" and "Das Supertalent" he is said to have earned 2.5 million euros per year. In 2021, Dieter Bohlen was no longer part of the DSDS jury, but has been back since 2022. So he's been part of the DSDS jury for more than 20 years, so that's a tidy sum, of course.

In recent decades, Dieter Bohlen has built up his own brand and now earns his money as an advertising face and brand ambassador for various companies, such as Camp David, Freenet and the furniture store Roller.

The contract with Camp David in particular has been in place for ages. Back then, Dieter Bohlen was approached by the founders in Cala Ratjada to ask if he would be interested in wearing Camp David clothes. At that time Camp David had a profit of just 900€. After Bohlen decided to partner with the company, the brand recorded a profit of one million euros after just one year and a profit of 20 million euros after just 2 years. Interestingly, however, Dieter Bohlen is not directly involved in Camp David, although he has been instrumental in its success. He says that he missed the moment to get shares in the brand. Nevertheless, he had the chance to launch his own collection "rowing club" with Camp David.

On Instagram, Dieter Bohlen has over 1.5 million followers. According to experts, he could earn €5,000 per post with advertising deals.

But how does the pop titan invest his money? In my opinion: rather conservatively and risk-averse.

Dieter Bohlen advocates patience when investing in the stock market. That's nothing new for most of us.

In addition to traditional stocks such as $ALV (+0,05 %) and $BAS (-0,18 %) on passive investing by means of ETFs. In an interview, he reveals that he's invested in the $INRG (+1,31 %) is invested. For young people, he recommends savings plans for ETFs such as the $IWDA (+0,39 %) or the$IEMG (+0,81 %). So I'm going to assume that he has also invested his money in these ETFs. He also emphasizes the importance of a long-term investment horizon and advises against impulsive purchases of individual stocks, as these are associated with higher risks.

Dieter Bohlen does not invest in $BTC (-0,35 %) or other cryptocurrencies. He was already critical of this in 2019 after his face was misused for shady advertising by crypto companies.

Interestingly, Dieter Bohlen admits in the interview at Founder Summit 2022 that he initially had no idea whatsoever about real estate and stocks and only got involved with these topics later, even though, according to him, these are the 2 areas where you can make "real money". In the meantime, he personally takes care of his investments and is relatively risk-averse, as he does not invest in startups, for example. Judging by his statements, Dieter Bohlen invests relatively conservatively and doesn't want to take too many risks. How do you rate his investment strategy?

Despite his success in the music industry, Dieter Bohlen earns significantly more money with his assets, such as real estate, stocks and ETFs. He says that music has now become a hobby for him.

I hope you enjoyed this article!

Best regards,

your Valerie

Where did you get your information? For example, Dieter has long since returned to DSDS. Has probably not really worked without him - at least from a commercial point of view. And yes, music is for him like his hobby, but that does not mean that not significant income still come from this area, current income from music rights, are not to be underestimated, his tours also bring good money. PS: Your contributions of this kind I find but really good!
