What nonsense. Since when have Visa and Paypal been competing? Absolutely pointless profit-taking far too early. At 90$ you could think about it, but not now.

@Soprano So somehow they are already competing.
I used to pay for everything online with PayPal, but for the last 3 years I've only been paying with VISA. 😉

@PowerWordChill Why not both? Otherwise it's absolutely stupid. Pay with PayPal, but save your credit card as a payment option with PayPal. If only because not every online store receives your credit card details this way.

I pay with PayPal or Amazon Pay wherever possible, so these are the only two companies I have to entrust with data. You also benefit twice from BNPL and buyer protection.

@Soprano I think that's very individual. However, the figures show that Visa is doing much better as a payment method. Just the option of depositing your credit card with Apple Pay and then making contactless payments is giving PayPal a hard time and I don't think they will be able to counteract this headwind in the near future either

@PowerWordChill Visa existed before PayPal, why did you pay with PayPal instead of Visa? I think a lot of people pay with PayPal just so they don't have to hand out their credit card everywhere on the Internet.

@Finanzente I have the issue of Apple Pay (which I also use) on my radar. But when I'm in LIDL, I don't ask myself whether it's Apple or PayPal, but Apple or my wallet. At the same time, I can only pay for my streaming subscriptions via PayPal and not via Apple.

Where are the use cases where I have to choose between Apple and PayPal?

Apart from that, I assume that the EU will force Apple to allow PayPal as a method for Apple Pay.

I only used Paypal for 10 years. For a good two years now, I've only used VISA.
Nobody in my circle of friends wants to have money transferred to their PayPal account any more ... instant bank transfer is quicker.

Because of 2FA, anyone can have my credit card details ... they won't be able to debit anything 👌

@Mike_Invest I don't know anyone who thinks like that and I can't think of any plausible reason why I would give someone my account number instead of an e-mail. If you transfer the wrong amount by bank transfer, you'll never get it back unless the recipient returns it voluntarily. But everyone as they like 🤷🏻‍♂️
