NVIDIA ($NVDA (+3,24 %)) is reportedly developing a new AI chip, tentatively called "B20", specifically for the Chinese marketto comply with US export controls. This chip is part of the Blackwell series and is said to be compatible with current regulations. NVIDIA will work with Inspura major distributor in China, to launch and distribute the chip. The B20 chip is expected to compete against domestic products from companies such as Huawei and that of Tencent ($700 (-1,52 %)) backed Enflame compete.

I don't understand it. The Americans don't want the Chinese to develop an AI military. But they always allow 1-2 generations behind the current generation of chips.
In 4 years' time, they will allow the chips that are actually banned today.

I thought the USA wanted to prevent China from using its technology for AI military. Makes no sense at all.

If the Americans do exactly that, they wouldn't have to allow any technology beyond a certain level and not what is 4 years old. So it won't last in the long term. Nvidia will lose the Chinese market in the long term.

what don't you understand about that? the USA needs the sales and is cutting back on performance so that the USA remains No.1. One word for it! Absolutely brilliant!
