1. First plans for an "excess profits tax".
The EU Commission wants to oblige EU states to collect parts of the profits of Shell, Wintershall and Co. as a "solidarity contribution." The amount of the contribution is initially left open in the text of the law. The draft also provides that end customer electricity prices can be temporarily capped by the state not only for consumers but also for small and medium-sized enterprises.

2. Bayer embarks on search for new CEO
