Blizzard $ATVI penetrate the mobile world:
Blizzard stock has gained 10.57% in the last 6 months. During this time there has been a lot of exciting news, both positive and negative. Most importantly, the year for Blizzard has been marked by news about Blizzard's attempt to conquer our cell phones. Here is a brief summary of the most important news around Blizzard's mobile games this year:
- Diabolo Immortal: Warcraft's first attempt to break into the mobile sector can be considered a success. The game has been dubbed by many as a successful Diabolo expansion, despite a lot of negative news around the controversial microtransactions in the game.
- Warcraft Arcane Rumble: Blizzard's second mobile launch is also announced for this year, proving how serious Blizzard is about mobile. Warcraft Arcane Rumble is a slightly less subtle attempt, #supercell ( Ttencent $TCEHY (-1,43 %) ) to make competition. Arcane Rumble is scheduled for release in late 2022 and has strong similarities to Clash Royale, but already has a lot of hype.
- Warcraft mobile: Besides Warcraft Arclight Rumble, a real Warcraft game was also planned together with mobile game maker Netease. However, "the companies' collaboration ended prematurely as a result of a financial dispute." - Tech radar.
What's your opinion on Blizzard's mobile strategy? I was asked the other day why I still have quite few gaming titles in my portfolio. Moving into mobile I see (financially) as a positive for Blizzard and will be building a position in Activision via a savings plan for the next few months.
