SMA Solar adjusts forecast downward

$S92 (-3,24 %)
SMA Solar Technology AG adjusts sales and earnings forecast for the current fiscal year 2024

The Managing Board now expects sales of between €1,550 million and €1,700 million (previously: €1,950 million and €2,220 million) and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of between €80 million and €130 million (previously: €220 million and €290 million). In accordance with the applicable accounting standards, any changes in balance sheet depreciation and amortization are assessed and taken into account where necessary when preparing the half-year financial statements.

In addition to a persistently volatile market, the reason for the adjustment of the forecast is the delayed increase in incoming orders due to the continued high inventory levels at distributors and installers. As a result, sales and earnings in the Home Solutions and Commercial & Industrial Solutions segments are below expectations. In addition, the outcome of the European elections and the upcoming elections in the USA on November 5 have created new uncertainty in the market. The Large Scale & Project Solutions segment continues to develop in line with expectations. The Management Board continues to expect a strong increase in turnover and EBITDA for the year as a whole compared to the previous year.

Solar shares still interesting for you?

I remain bullish on First Solar $FSLR. Grants and subsidies, as well as "American First", play right into the company's hands

@7Trader Yes, Trump is also planning something. But SMA Solar tends to build inverters rather than modules and doesn't operate solar parks, fields or areas like 7C. It's a bit different, but it often refers to the entire sector.

@MitVerstandzumKapital You asked "Are solar shares interesting for you?" and this is my answer 😉
I am aware of the difference to SMA. SMA has had a bad time simply because of its economic location.... at least at the moment

@7Trader me too, I am up 85% on $FSLR, only bought half year ago

@Shell I'm only 70% up because I bought more in between. I am very satisfied with the position 🤑🤞🏼
The Chinese have simply won. The domestic solar industry is dead. Even if SMA only manufactures inverters. The other nations can do it cheaper and just as well.

@Pandamona That's true. Currently, Anker is being beaten around the social media world and many influencers are advertising it.

SMA is not very cheap in comparison. I've also been interested in it privately!

Weren't they already bankrupt in the noughties? The reasons sounded very similar back then too. Solar is a volatile, dirty business and anyone who invests in it wants to burn money.

I have already made a lot of money with SMA Solar. But I agree with you in essence. It is very volatile and politically influenced. You should always try to take the swings here, but in the long term, it's also too hot for me.

A new technological development comes around the corner and bang.

Jo, out on time at the top, but now back in too early 🤔😐

@StephanR That's true. But this kind of thing is often shared pre-market. They probably wanted to avoid some vola here, but they actually just postponed it.
